It's a Layout A Day Blog Hop!

"October LOAD 2010" LOAD Day 31 {Explored}
October 2010 Layout A Day, Day 31
Welcome to the Layout A Day Blog Hop! If you don't know what Layout A Day (LOAD) is or you haven't signed up for LOAD 211 yet, Lain Ehmann will tell you all about it HERE.

Whether you're new to LOAD or continuing your journey as a LOAD alumni, this blog hop is sure to be an exciting and educational experience loaded with fun and a few goodies along the way.

Grab your beverage of choice, a snack and sit back for some blog hopping good times! Today you will be visiting some of my fellow LOADsters to see how they are preparing for LOAD, which starts on February 1.

Before you hop off to the next blog, take a look at My LOAD To Do List:

1. Scrapbook: Buy a new scrapbook on sale. This will be a temporary home for the layouts I plan to work on during LOAD:

2. Photos: Sort through printed photos and pick out favorite ones. Edit photos on computer and order from Shutterfly. (Shh...I hadn't ordered prints since the last LOAD in October!)

3. Organize: Move all scrapbook supplies into one room. Organize everything...adhesive, ribbon, embellishments, etc. I absolutely HAD to do this! The last two LOADs, I was scrapbooking out of boxes at my dining room table which meant that we weren't eating there since this is what it looked like:

4. Paper: Organize and pick out paper to coordinate with photos and add to the scrapbook. During LOAD, I will read each day's challenge and then flip through the scrapbook and choose the photos  I want to use that day. (This is a work in progress, after all, I still have a week to prepare!)

5. Journal: Write about the photos. In my journal, I have ideas for titles, photo placement and layout design. I'm still in the process of writing down all the memories that are sparked when looking at my chosen photos.

6. Other: Menu planning, grocery shopping, finish other projects, schedule blog posts...and whatever else I can think of before February including organizing the 10 gallon container of scraps I had accumulated the past couple years:

There you have it! That's how I've been getting ready for a month of scrapbooking. I'm looking forward to visiting the other blogs on the list to see what they've been up to...I'm sure I'll be adding a few more things to my to do list as well.

Tips:

  • Create a routine. I've found that I like to scrapbook in the morning and once I complete my layout, I photograph it (5-10 photos), download the photos to my computer, chose the best photo and crop it, after I hit save, I upload it to Flickr and add it to the LOAD group.
  • Link Flickr to Facebook and your blog. I did this during October's LOAD and every photo I uploaded went straight to Facebook. I also added my blog so I could easily write a post from Flickr and share a layout. You can do this from your Flickr account page when you click on the Sharing & Extending tab.
  • Expect the unexpected. No matter how much you prepare, you will end up scrapbooking photos that you never planned on and journal about memories you had forgotten about. You will learn more about yourself and your scrapbooking style AND you will be inspired!

Hope you enjoy the Layout A Day Blog Hop! You'll also want to check out the LOAD Prep Q&A Call tonight (1/24) at 8:45 PM EST.
