How To Make Wall Art With Handmade Cherry Blossoms

"Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights."
-Pauline R. Kezer, Former State Legislator

The cherry blossom is lovely and beautiful, but it's life is short lived and serves as a reminder that we must embrace change as we go with the flow. Creating the cherry blossom wall art you see above made me think about all the changes my life has gone through over the past several years. Nothing is really ever constant except change. Change of mind, change of surroundings, changes in the people around you.

The cherry blossoms were easy to make and a nice little change to my home decor. This is how I made them:

Supplies:

  • handmade paper (white/off-white)
  • paper scraps (dark red)
  • Glue Dots® (Mini, Removable)
  • circle punches (large, small)
  • cardboard
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • vine dragon ($1.99 at Michael's craft store)

Step 1: Using the large punch, make 14 circles from the handmade paper and one circle from the cardboard.

Step 2: Draw the outline of a cherry blossom on the cardboard circle and cut out. This will be your template.

Step 3: Using the cherry blossom template, trace the outline onto each handmade paper circle and cut along the lines.

Step 4: Punch out 14 small circles from the dark red paper scraps and adhere to the center of the cherry blossoms using Mini Glue Dots®.

Step 5: Attach 10 cherry blossoms to the vine dragon with Mini Glue Dots® and 4 cherry blossoms to the wall with Removable Glue Dots®.

I chose to make cherry blossom wall art as a compliment to the framed scrapbook layout of my kanji and cherry blossom tattoos. This is what they both look like together:
