MemoryWorks Products: Searching for Cool Scrapbooking Techniques & Tutorials

I've heard it over and over...YouTube is the place to go to learn more about scrapbooking. I didn't listen. I just never made the time to randomly search YouTube for scrapbooking tutorials until recently. (However, I have watched videos for classes like Layout A Day and even stumbled across a few others, plus I do enjoy watching cute and silly videos, so I'm not a complete YouTube newbie.)

Now, let's rewind to last week. I was scrapbooking and using one of my favorite scrapbooking tools, the Heidi Swapp edge distresser I've had since 2007, when I realized that the blade was almost non-existent. Stop the presses! I NEED an edge distresser! So I looked in Walmart's scrapbooking section. None. Then I checked Michaels. None. Then I checked the other Michaels. None. And went to Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts. NOTHING! I even considered making my own edge distresser with a razor blade, but knowing my luck, I'd probably cut off my finger.

Since I couldn't get my edge distresser right away, I checked MemoryWorks and considered BasicGrey's Precision File Tool Set, but never used it. I wasn't about to buy something if I didn't know what kind of results I was going to get...so...I checked YouTube. This is what I found...

BasicGrey: Precision File Set

Well, hot diggity dog! If I knew all those little tools did all of that, I would have gotten the file set a long time ago. I'm sold! The next time I order from MemoryWorks, it'll be in my cart.

Since I had an "aha moment," I figured I do more searching and learn a few techniques on how to use Ranger's Distress Ink. I only have one color (so far) and didn't really know how to use it until I hung out with Tim Holtz for a few minutes...

Ranger: Distress Ink Techniques

Ranger: Distress Ink - Black (SKU: RA011) $5.00 (more colors available)

Wow! I'm going to buy more Distress Ink and try these techniques.

Since I'm liking Tim so much, I wanted to see what else he can do...

Tim Holtz: Masks

Tim Holtz: Mask - Flourish (SKU: TH019) $3.00
Tim Holtz: Mini Mask - Regal (SKU: TH020) $2.00

Cool! The Flourish Mask will definitely be in my next order too!

Now I know that YouTube is a great source for learning about the scrapbooking tools we love and need (or think we need).

And, of course, blogs are loaded with scrapbooking tutorials too. Learn how to use...

Fiskars: Border Punches
Ranger: Stickles
MemoryWorks: Simple Stories
...just to name a few.

And be inspired by some of the companies that are featured in the MemoryWorks catalog and website such as:

Cosmo Cricket  (Did you know that Cosmo Cricket paper is FSC certified?)

Fancy Pants (I didn't plan on ordering any more paper kits, but when I saw the Fancy Pants Love Bird Theme Set, I had to have it!)

Petaloo

SassaFrass (This is the company with the new diecut foldies. I'm hoping that MemoryWorks will be adding them to the next catalog which will be out the end of March/early April.)

You can see products by these companies (and others), shop and sign-up to be a consultant all in one place: MemoryWorks. If you are already a consultant, join me in the MW Studio tonight (2/10/11 at 6PM EST) when I host the "3 Ways to Love Our Products" chat. See you there!
