Scrapbook layout with one lucky shot

Sometimes the best photos happen accidentally; an unplanned moment, locked in time with one lucky shot. In 2007, I redecorated my front porch and wanted to take a few photos to document my efforts. My only child at the time was playing on the porch with a toy gun, trying to shoot me with one of those foam darts when I snapped a photo of her. Boy, I got lucky and could not resist using the photo in a scrapbook layout.

I'm still learning how to photograph scrapbook layouts, so the journaling is not as clear as it should be, but here is what it says:

"While I was taking photos of our newly painted and decorated front porch, Ashley was playing with her toy gun and shot me in the butt. As I turned around, Ashley prepared to shoot me again and while the gun was in motion, I captured the perfect moment which created this unique photograph." -August 2007

Article about Scrappin' Memories 4U Custom Scrapbooking

You create the memories...she'll display them

Got pictures? Maybe you have too many and not enough time to do anything with them. This past summer stay-at-home mother Danielle Hunter started Scrappin' Memories 4U. "I just love scrapbooking," says Hunter who has been scrapbooking for over 20 years.

Scrapbooks are a wonderful way to preserve your memories, but many of us simply don't have the time, or haven't invested in the scrapbooking tools and supplies. Simply put, Hunter says, "My job is to get those pictures out of boxes and into scrapbooks so people can share their memories with others."

After you've carefully selected your pictures, you can select decorative cardstock and other embellishments for your album. You may purchase products on your own at the local craft store, or through Hunter who is also a Memory Works consultant.

She charges an hourly rate which includes tax, adhesives, plain cardstock, etc. Depending on how elaborate a book you prefer, it takes approximately 30 minutes to one hour to complete one 12x12 scrapbook page. Through artistic design and personal journaling, your pictures will come to life to enjoy in the present, and to pass down for generations.

Welcome to the Scrappin' Memories 4U Blog!

Here I am! Starting my very first blog about scrapbooking and actually, my very first blog, period. My scrapbook journey has been a long one, so how did I start scrapbooking?

When I was around four-years-old, my first scrapbook appeared in front of me, a blank canvas given to me by my mother who saw a creative spark. I filled it with the pictures I cut out of magazines and store sale ads. There were pages and pages of babies, babies with their mommies, bunnies, Easter candy, bunnies with Easter candy (obviously it was around the time of Easter, which often falls near my April birthday).

Then I moved onto making scrapbooks of various keepsakes like movie tickets and celebrity autographs. Once I reached middle school and had an abundance of cheerleading pictures (Go Streetsboro Rockets!) I truely discovered my love of mixing photos with paper, creating handmade embellishments, and even pop-up pages...and I had a lot of fun scrapbooking with a my best friend too (Hi Polly!). My scrapbooking hobby continued throughout my high school and college years (Go Toledo Rockets!) and helped me to design eye-pleasing layouts for newspapers and newsletters.

Once I was married and had my first child, I became the crazy lady with the camera, constantly taking photos of my beautiful baby girl. Then I received the phone call that changed my scrapbooking life. Read more about that call and my first crop party here. Now I was the crazy scrapbook lady with the camera, constantly scrappin' photos of my daughter.

In 2007, I launched Scrappin' Memories 4U, my scrapbook design business and started making scrapbooks for people who don't have time to do it themselves. I also became a Memory Works Consultant so I could have access to great scrapbooking products. Then I took a long scrapbook break to have another beautiful baby girl in 2008. Today, I'm back in the swing of things--scrappin', picture-taking, writing and blogging about scrapbooking.
