Comfort zones. I feel safe telling my family what is on my mind. I prefer to go grocery shopping in the morning. I know my way around a scrapbook page. These are all examples of my comfort zones.
Despite liking the feeling of being comfortable, I must face my challenges head on and learn from them to grow as a person and as a craft-minded individual. You may already know that I step out of my comfort zone when I attempt to create a layout using a sketch and you might have caught a tweet of mine saying that I don't like to make cards. And even though I have experience designing invitations and scrapbook pages, for a long time, I wasn't feeling the cardmaking vibe...until recently.
My 2011 New Year's Resolution is to make cards and not buy them. I gave myself a trial period in December and made this card for my scrappy friend and fellow blogger Zaira Ivette Sierra:
This month, I used scraps from my Simple Stories kit to make a flower-like embellishment for a card I posted on the MemoryWorks blog and sent to my mom for her birthday:
And finally, my older sister just had her birthday this week so I made her a card using scrap paper I had accumulated last year:
Let me just say, I like making cards. Who knew?!?
Another new thing this year is that I received my very first blog award from a Layout A Day Blog Hopper, Margie! You can see her adorable family, a very cool super hero cake and the list of blog awardees HERE. Thanks Margie!
Now I must pass the award onto some of my favorite bloggers:
Sue - Life & Memories
Honorable Mention goes to Lisa - Recklinghausen Musings
Lisa would have also received the award from me if she wasn't already a recipient.

There are a couple of conditions for the award:
You have been TAGGED and if you want to participate, create a post where you add the above 'LOVE BLOG' image, then link back to me and let me know that you accept the award. Choose 3 - 5 favorite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged. (Try to chose bloggers with less than 2000 followers to help spread the word about the great blogs you love.)
