A Scrapbook Layout Using Cell Phone Pics + Full Circle Moments

Today is a full circle moment.

Blog hops and design teams were first introduced to me via Twitter early in 2010. I saw a tweet about a ScrapTiffany blog hop and decided to check it out. I remember being blown away by all the creative work the talented design team had put together.

Who knew that by the end of the year, I would also be part of the ScrapTiffany design team? One of my first challenges was to use a sketch as inspiration and if you didn't already know, sketches can be a pain in the buttisimo.

But like I said in the intro, today is a a full circle moment and I have come to accept sketches into my life. This scrapbook page was created from a sketch by ScrapTiffany design team member Sophie...and it was also the closest I had ever followed a sketch without being annoyed!

I used supplies from the MemoryWorks April 2011 Express Kit (you can see other projects here) and pics from my cell phone (created 4x6 photo collages and cropped the photos) to make this fun scrapbook page. The strips were perfect for using small photos and you can see other "sketchy" scrapbook layouts and cards on the ScrapTiffany blog.

Now that you had a look at my most recent ScrapTiffany challenge, let's go back to the full circle moment once again. I officially began my term in January and this is my last ScrapTiffany challenge, for our leader, Tiffany, is a very busy woman (has four jobs, children, volunteer work and she lives in Alaska!) and will no longer continue with a design team on her blog. I know, I know, it's sad, but the design team understands and most of us had no idea that she was THAT busy. We love you Tiffany!

Since this is the end of my term, I wanted to gather together all the links to my ScrapTiffany design team projects and here they are (in reverse order):

Yep! It's been quite an adventure the past six months! Thanks for joining me.

I'll be back next week with a Glue Dots project!

A Silly & Sweet Scrapbook Layout + the Sketch

It's April 1st, which not only means April Fool's Day, but also time for another ScrapTiffany challenge... a sketch (one that wasn't a pain in the buttisimo) by Sassy Lil' Sketches:

Here's my take on the sketch:

The journaling reads: If I could bottle up all of your silliness and sweetness, I'd make a lot of money.

And if it background paper looks familiar, it is! Remember "The Girlie Girl" layout I created for ScrapTiffany with the marble painting tutorial? This is just another sheet of cardstock that was painted on the same day.

Go check out more scrapbook layouts and cards inspired by the sketch over at the ScrapTiffany blog.

Sketches Can be a Pain in the Buttisimo

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "I don't like sketches!" I could probably dish them out, but I lose my scrapbooking mojo and get that feeling of nails scratching on a chalkboard when I have to attempt another sketch. I like to do my own thing and that's usually whatever the photos tell me to do.

Yes! Photos talk to me telepathically! They say "put me there" or "crop me this way" or "use these colors."

But I still do sketches and even though I don't like them, I like the challenge and the learning experience...and my first ScrapTiffany sketch was definitely a challenge:

This is my take on the sketch:

I used part of the contact sheet on the layout because it just worked and shows other photos from the same day (even though some of the photos are flipped the wrong way). I  also doodled in place of the stitching on the sketch and "F is for fun" because my family had a blast at a Toledo Mudhens game on Father's Day 2010:

Here's a closer look of one of the flowers:

You can see other scrapbook layouts and cards created from the sketch on the ScrapTiffany blog. And if you ever lose your scrapbooking mojo, read Eric's Load of Scrap series on Finding Your Scrapbooking Mojo (the link goes to Part 3).
